Another new wrap came here to be tested and when I opened the package I was very enthusiastic about these colours. They are so vibrant, so strong, it was the first thing I recognized about this wrap and it still lets me look at it again and again. It is a very shiny blue/teal in contrast with a deep red. From far away it looks like black or brown but if you come near you can see this unusual combination. Another thing that you can see when you take a closer look is the weaving structure. It is ribbed and you can feel all the threads and the pattern. We all know the peacock pattern from different other brands and I must admit that I don’t like it very much. But these colours make this wrap so beautiful I don’t care much about the pattern.

SUPU is a new brand from UK, created by Jess. I really like her introduction text on her website so I will just copy it here:
“For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Jess and I’m a new mum from New Zealand living in Manchester with my English man. I have loved fabric and textiles since I can remember and up until my daughter was born I had worked as a Designer. Now unable to return full time, I have taken the plunge and decided to start my own range of woven baby wraps. Combining my two greatest passions, textiles and motherhood, seemed to be the perfect combination. “

The wrap was dry after a short time so that I could start wrapping at the same day. It feels pretty floppy in hand and the weave is more loose than dense. It is a medium thick wrap but because of its floppiness it is a huge pile of fluff when folded. It is very airy and I was sceptical if it would be supportive enough.
Like always with loose woven wrap I needed some time to get the wrap tight and get all the slack out of it, especially around the baby’s bum. I tried it in a Double Hammock and wrapped in front of a mirror to see where I have to pull to get everything in place. But then it felt great. The wrap has a nice amount of cush and although it is 100% cotton it feels a little bit silky in hand while wrapping with it. I even tried it with our toddler for bedtime in a Front Wrap Cross Carry and it was perfect. I wouldn’t say that he felt weightless but my shoulders and back were fine and I could easily carry him in it for a while. So the first impression that the wrap would be too loose and floppy wasn’t true at all. It is a very soft and supportive easy care wrap, perfect for beginners and experienced babywearers. It doesn’t need any breaking in and I would recommend it for babies and toddlers, maybe it is too thick for a tiny newborn.

I just want to tell you one more thing about SUPU that I read on there website: “SUPU Woven Wraps auction a tester wrap from each product range with all of the proceeds going to our designated charity, The Rainbow Trust. “ This is an organisation who supports families with kids who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. I think it’s a really nice gesture and a good way to turn the tester wraps into something amazing.
